As a mother of a daughter with developmental disabilities, I deeply understand the journey families go through. From my daughter’s autism diagnosis at age two to later navigating ADHD and anxiety, I have spent over 13 years learning, advocating, and supporting her through interpretation, special education, Regional Center services, and public benefits.
SDP journey can easily be overwhelming and isolating at times, and I can resonate how powerful it is when families feel informed and confident in making decisions for their child.
저는 발달장애를 가진 딸의 엄마로서, 가족들이 겪는 여정을 깊이 이해하고 공감합니다. 딸이 두 살에 자폐 진단을 받은 이후, ADHD와 불안장애까지 경험하며 지난 13년 이상 특수교육, 리저널 센터 서비스, 공공 혜택을 통해 그리고 통역사로서 아이를 지원해 왔습니다.
이 과정이 얼마나 복잡하고 때로는 외롭게 느껴지는지 잘 알고 있습니다. 동시에, 충분한 정보를 바탕으로 내 아이를 위한 결정을 자신 있게 내릴 수 있을 때 얼마나 큰 힘이 되는지도 알고 있습니다.

저는 Guidelight Group을 통해 자기결정프로그램(IF) 훈련을 받았으며, COPAA 특수교육 옹호 교육(SEAT)을 이수했습니다. 또한 공인회계사(CPA)로서 SDP 예산과 계획을 명확하게 세울 수 있도록 돕고 있습니다.
KASEC에서 2년간 학부모 연구원으로 활동하며, 한인 가정을 위한 150페이지 이상의 발달장애 가이드북 제작에 참여했습니다. 또한 2016년부터 한국어–영어 통역사로 활동하며 IEP 회의 등 중요한 자리에서 가족들을 지원해 왔습니다.
